Dear Sir or Madam:

I am applying for the position of "Reporter" that was advertised in the July 21, 2009 edition of The Asahi Shimbun.

I feel that mass media influences people's ideas and actions in a very strong way. In the hands of the right journalist, the truth can be told in an objective way. There is always the risk that incorrect information can spread and people believe it to be the truth. This position is very attractive to me because it requires a sense of responsibility and a sense of the mission at hand, which is to let people know correct and timely information of what is really going on in the world.

As a student, I wanted to see the world by myself and with my own eyes. I returned to Argentina where I was born. I also went to China, Germany and Spain. In 1998 I traveled from Los Angeles to all the way to Florida with only a bag and my curiosity to guide me. My English ability improved dramatically during these travels. Practiced people skills allowed me to do things, and find places that usual travelers never get to see. All these experiences have prepared me well for this position.

The position of Reporter takes a great deal of physical stamina. Since I was in high school, I have belonged to various rugby teams. I am quite confident about my physical strength. These experiences have prepared me well for this position. The English document preparation skills I have gained in my current Advertising Copywriter position, would be a great asset to me as a reporter.

I am extremely interested in this position and am available for an interview at your convenience. I look forward to meeting with you.
